USING THE STF BBS

If you wish to use the STF BBS, we recommend using the NovaTerm™ 3.1 software which is installed on your hard drive automatically if you used "Easy Install" for the STF AutoPak. If you did a Custom install, the "STF On-Line Services.sea" archive can be found on Disk two. To use it, double-click and save the extracted components to your hard drive.
The STF BBS offers technical assistance, the latest software updates, and information about other STF products via the easy-to-use NovaTerm™ graphical interface.

IMPORTANT NOTE:
If your modem is not supported by NovaTerm™, you may also access the STF BBS using any standard communications software program such as MicroPhone™. You will need to use a standard text dialog to navigate the BBS.

Using NovaTerm 3.1
Double-click on the NovaTerm™ 3.1 icon in the "STF Online Services" folder to run the NovaTerm software.
The NovaTerm™ Client software connection dialog will appear.

Reset the Access Number
The correct access number for the STF BBS (1-816-463-1131) will be entered into the NovaTerm™ software. If you are within the "816" area you will need to remove the 816 area code. Click on the "Settings" button to change this number. The Settings dialog will appear allowing you to edit the access number.

Log on to the STF BBS
To logon, click the "Connect" button. If this is your first call to the STF BBS, you are not required to enter a password at this time. If you have called before, you will need to use the same password you used for the previous connection.
If this is your first attempt to logon, you will need to click the
"First call" button in the dialog which appears as shown below.
NovaTerm™ will dial and connect to the STF BBS. If this is your first logon, you will be asked to register as a client. You will need to complete ALL fields in the registration dialog, including a password.
After you logon, the "Main Menu" folder and a Server Messages window will appear. Folders and documents will open much like they do in the Finder. Please review the "About..." note files on the BBS for descriptions of the files available for downloading.
